It is a shame when someone slams the door on your face, don’t worry because God will open a beautiful door for you.
Exactly the situation I was in when I was kicked out of the house by my husband. I had no place to go. Knowing nothing about shelter accommodations and where to go. In spite of begging to take me inside the house, the door was slammed in my face. I was roaming around with my suitcases. While I was sitting in the office of DV workers, I got a call from the case manager of Harman Foundation. That’s it. I came to Harman Foundation’s office with my luggage and was given shelter and food. I might be short of words if I have to thank and talk about what Harman Foundation has done for me. I was crying and thinking to myself, “Where will I go? How will I manage everything?” Harman Foundation came forward to keep me as if god had sent them for me to support me till my last breath. I will have gratitude in my heart for what they have done for me.”
I feel stronger, safer, and more hopeful. I am regaining my independence and confidence, knowing I have the support I need to build a better future.
Before coming to Harman Foundation, I had no home, no support, and no hope. From the moment I reached out, I was met with kindness and immediate assistance. Harman Foundation provided stable accommodation, helped me access Centrelink and housing support, and connected me with English classes and employment services. They also ensured I had fresh food and essentials, giving me stability and dignity. The emotional support and case management were life changing. The counselling, financial assistance, and step-by-step guidance empowered me to move forward. The practical support, including safe housing, food, and assistance with medical and legal needs, made a huge difference.
Harman Foundation arranged childcare for my daughter, so I could focus on my studies. This support has helped me feel more confident and less alone.
Legal Aid connected me with Harman Foundation, and I’m so thankful for all the help. Harman Foundation gave me a place to stay, grocery, counselling, and legal help. They also helped me apply for Medicare and Centrelink. Thanks to them, I got into Cert III at TAFE and was referred to AMEP to improve my English. Also, the counselling was very helpful, my counsellor listened to me and supported me, and after every session, I felt less stressed and more motivated. Harman Foundation has helped me become stronger, more confident, and independent, while also caring for my mental health. I am grateful for their support.
The Harman Foundation’s, Women Empowerment Monday sessions conducted on legal rights, immigration advice, financial guidance, and many more activities, made me mentally strong.
It all started over a year ago with my husband’s verbal, physical, mental and sexual abuse that made my life hell. I just could not live like this anymore and finally left the marriage. This had a dramatic effect on me, my daughter, our mental health and physical stability in life. Having no family in this country, was a very difficult moment for me. I didn’t expect to have any support, but fortunately Harman Foundation directed me to all the support and resources needed and accompanied me to the court room and referred me to WDVCAS team which helped me to make the right decision. I truly would not have been able to survive that day without their guidance. Currently I am living in a shelters house which is a safe place for me & my daughter, as I was not financially independent. Everyone at Harman Foundation was helpful, understanding and supportive. They helped me open my bank account, lodged my Red Cross Application and offered counselling sessions to boost my self-confidence and self-worth. They helped me enrol in TAFE to study Aged care & Disability. Now I am learning how to drive. Also, enrolled my daughter in primary school. Harman Foundation has helped me in so many ways I cannot imagine my life right now without their support. Thank you for all you do. I don’t think anyone would have believed me and understand the threat that I lived under: A big thanks to Harman Foundation.
