HOPE Multicultural Service Hub

The HOPE Multicultural Service Hub was established in February 2022 in Blacktown NSW. It is a centre for diverse community services, providing culturally responsive support, referrals, and empowerment programs.

The HOPE Hub is designed to offer our various adjacent community programs – family support, food services, seniors support, and others. More importantly, it offers a space for our team, volunteers and the community to gather, attend trainings and programs.

Since our inception we have applied the approach to develop strategic programs for the multicultural community to address urgent needs. As part of this work, we have identified some vulnerable groups within the South Asian community and built the following projects and initiatives to offer support.

Thrift Factory

Our latest project is a popup store for pre- loved evening wear. It has emerged as a remarkable success story as it not only helped us raise fund, but also given our women clients to develop skills through the Women’s Empowerment Program.

This empowerment program takes our participants through a series of 7 sessions to build self-reliance and confidence.

This project commenced in 2022, aimed at keeping clothing in use for longer and promoting eco-conscious living. All profits are directed towards the HER House refuge. Till date we’ve generated $9,500 and provided employment pathways for victims of domestic and family violence.

Recognised for its environmental impact and social innovation, it was honoured with the

2024 ZEST Award for Outstanding Project – Climate & Environment Resilience.

Women’s Empowerment Program

Our specialised program design to educate and empower our female clients. The program is spread over 7 dedicated workshops where women learn about legal rights, finance, visa and immigration, work and study pathways, and more.

The aim of this program is to equip our clients with crucial information that helps them make informed decisions as they rebuild their lives.

Our team has supported numerous clients to enrol in TAFE, open bank accounts, do job applications, visa paperwork, learn driving, and other key life skills that help them become more self-reliant and confident.

Most importantly, it gives them hope for their future lives.

Food Service

This program provides assistance to families and individuals dealing with food insecurity.

The Food Drive happens every Thursday between 5-6:30pm, at Alpha Park, Blacktown.

In addition to food, we also offer basic clothing and blankets to anyone facing hardship. The project is led in collaboration with the Australian Sikh Association.

We have served 7000 meals and counting.

Our team extends our gratitude to our ongoing partnerships – Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Gurdwara Blacktown, Food Bank, and Kalpa Vruksha, Shakti Mandir Westmead for their invaluable support.

Fancy a Cuppa

The Fancy a Cuppa Project fosters community bonding and mental well-being by providing opportunity to meet and have a free coffee and tea to people.

With over 1,500 cups distributed, it has strengthened community connections and supported mental health by giving people a space to meet and talk and build their social skills and support systems.

We’ve seen many friendships being built, bonds nurtured, and countless heartening conversations take place over many cuppas shared.

Care Buddies

The Care Buddies program focuses on creating a supportive community among seniors.

By pairing volunteers with seniors in need of assistance, whether for transportation, out of home chores, or companionship, the program fosters a sense of camaraderie and mutual help.

Additionally, regular phone calls made to lonely seniors provide emotional support and combat feelings of isolation. We aim to create a vibrant and inclusive environment where seniors can age gracefully and with dignity.

Seniors Support Program

We have designed this program to foster social connection and skill building amongst the seniors from the multicultural community.

Our team hosts a variety of educational and empowerment seminars by experts from Seniors Rights Service, Centrelink, NSW Police and other such agencies. We also organise social sessions with games, art and craft, meditation and yoga, mobility safety classes, healthy living, computer literacy, and much more.

These activities promote physical and mental wellbeing, garner connections, and provide opportunities for learning and personal growth.

We aim to create a vibrant and inclusive environment where seniors can age gracefully, joyfully and with dignity.
